Can you believe it’s already March? I feel like this quarter is absolutely flying by! Though the first day of spring is technically not until March 20th, I feel like things are already blooming around the Nonahood.
A few weeks ago, health care experts, policy analysts, several U.S. Surgeons General, CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta and Dr. Deepak Chopra returned to Medical City for the annual Lake Nona Impact Forum. During the 3-day event attendees tackled some of the most pressing issues in healthcare. Sponsored by Johnson & Johnson, the forum is specifically designed to promote Lake Nona Medical City’s life-science, health and wellness, and tech offerings.
During the conference, Lake Nona announced that will team up with Jiyo, a digital platform created by Dr. Deepak Chopra to boost the health of residents. Called “Smart Cities – Internet of Wellbeing,” the project will promote sleep, exercise, nutrition, and more as well as insights from health experts. Lake Nona residents were even treated to a free meditation session hosted by Dr. Chopra at Laureate Park.
In development news, Tavistock Development announced that it will be starting construction on an 11-story, 157-unit “micro-apartment” project in the Lake Nona Town Center this April. Currently called The Distillery, the project is projected for completion in first-quarter 2019.
In addition to efficiency, studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom units, the project will also include mixed-use commercial space for retail, a restaurant or bar, a cafe, office space, and a three-level garage. To see a slideshow of renderings, click here.
